The Ex-Mays Volunteer Charter
At Ex-Mays Global Charity, volunteerism is rooted in the egalitarian philosophy of Dr. Tai Solarin: service without arrogance, labor without commercial entitlement, and mentorship delivered with unconditional respect for human dignity. All prospective volunteers must understand and accept our core service tenets:
- Strictly Non-Remunerated Service: Volunteering is a purely altruistic civic contribution. Volunteers receive zero wages, honoraria, or personal financial benefits. Travel and field materials are provided or reimbursed on an exact expense basis.
- Child Protection & Ethical Safeguards: Because our initiatives engage minor secondary students, every volunteer working directly with pupils must pass background verification, sign our Child Safeguarding Code of Conduct, and adhere to strict supervised interaction guidelines.
- Commitment to Equity & Inclusivity: Volunteers must foster an inclusive learning atmosphere free from religious, ethnic, or gender discrimination, mirroring Mayflower School’s non-sectarian tradition.
- Accountability to Local Educators: Volunteers serve to support and amplify resident faculty, deferring to institutional school leadership and curriculum guidelines.
